Geodesica version: 0-0-3-6j. The Stellate tool looks like this and is located on the Modify Tab of the Toolbar. This tool stellates a facet by a specified value or to a specified envelope. Click the Stellate button. The value field appears on the modify tab; enter the extrusion distance from the face centroid. Geodesica prompts you to pick a primal face.
Two modifier keys can be used with this tool. If the Shift key is down the operation is applied to all faces in the lattice. If the Control key is down, the value is ignored and stellation apex is projected to the Primal Envelope. If the Alt key is down, the value is ignored and stellation apex is projected to the Dual Envelope (which can be offset from the Primal by the required distance). The Dual is regenerated automatically.
Shift and Alt key modifiers
The above shows a 6V Class I, Method 1 Icodahedron. The Primal stellations were projected to an offest Dual envelope with a Supercircle profile.
Whilst it is generally best to follow the rule: ‘Truncate first, model after’, you can now truncate a Quad-Edge lattice after using the stellate tool.
